Stavros Halkias is a bowling ball of chaos and joy with a wispy mustache. In viral stand-up clips on TikTok, he’s a mischievous everyman whose wit is sharp but also squishy and inelegant, like a sock full of ground meat. He has range, so it's no surprise he’s starring in his own feature film, Let's Start a Cult.
This is a dumb comedy full of crude humor that isn’t ashamed to be jus that. Halkias plays a lovable loser who is so loathed by his cult, they commit mass suicide without him. He's bummed until he learns his former guru did not, in fact, kill himself. The pair then hatch a plan to start an all-new cult, setting out to find fresh recruits. This is the perfect comedy for 2024 America: a strangely forlorn stoner comedy about a group of losers who want to belong—even if it means drinking poison.
