150 Word Review: 'The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed' (2023)
Only the lonely
The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed is a slow-drip comedy in chapters about a woman living a modest life in Brooklyn looking for a man to treat her well, but not too well.
Writer/director Joanna Arnow stars as Ann, an office drone who pines for deeper romantic connections but can't quite shake her long-term casual affair with an older man who plays her "master" in their BDSM relationship. TFTTTFDSHP wants to be more than just another cringe comedy—there's grief for what can never be undergirding scenes of family dinners and awkward dates.
As a director, Arnow gets out of the way of her actors and locations. She is especially attentive to her star. Arnow is full-on naked for almost a third of this movie but emotionally bare for the entire running time. To her credit, she allows a little romance to photobomb her selfie.
