"Two retired conmen reunite for one last heist, targeting a corrupt billionaire, but old grudges threaten to sabotage the score."
That's not the plot of AppleTV+'s Wolfs. That's what I got when I asked ChatGPT for a movie plot starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt." Wolfs is actually about two rival fixers who meet for the first time at a high-profile crime scene and are forced to work together for one night in NYC.
Clooney and Pitt are Hollywood's peanut butter and jelly, two solid flavors that sing when smushed together. They have co-starred in one classic and one near-classic: Ocean's Eleven and the dark comedy Burn After Reading. Wolfs is less memorable than either of those. It feels like it was written by AI and produced over a weekend. There's a pervasive dullness, visually and pacing-wise. There are a few genuinely funny moments, thanks to Pitooney's very human chemistry.
Even if I can't argue that it's forgettable, I had a surprisingly great time with it.
